Common Questions
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Singing Wood Institute is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive an email receipt immediately following your gift.
Can I set up a recurring monthly gift?
Absolutely. Recurring monthly donations provide us with the consistent, reliable support needed to maintain our long-term scholarships and instrument access programs. You can manage or cancel your monthly gift at any time.
What specifically will my donation support?
Your contributions directly fund our three core pillars: providing high-performance instruments to students in need, supporting lutherie apprenticeships for next-generation makers and restorers, and enabling educational workshops in the community.
Can I donate a physical instrument?
We accept donations of violins, violas, and cellos on a case by case basis. Depending on the condition and quality, these instruments are either provided to students through our sponsorship programs, refurbished in our lutherie training program before being loaned, or used for fundraising. Please contact us to share more details about the instrument.
Can I loan an instrument I own through SWI?
Yes. When you contribute an instrument, you remain the legal owner at all times. Your instrument is not
donated unless you choose to transfer ownership later.
Instead, you become a stewardship partner, helping an instrument live multiple artistic lives.
